Final Reflection

Final Reflection
Some things that I have learned about effective teaching strategies is that you must use more than one tool. It is necessary to give many different options for learning, weather it be by video, demonstration, pictures or just reading, it is all necessary to teach. Technology is a way to reach farther into the learning aspect for our students. We live in a digital world and must learn to incorporate these new ideas into today's lessons. Things like UDLs will help make sure we are including these technologies to the best effectiveness. Integrating web-based technologies like StAIRS, Wikis, blogs, Prezis & so much more add to the 2 dimensional teachings of the past to make them more exciting and approachable for the teachings of today. I have met my own personal goals for learning about technology integration by widening my knowledge of the online world. I have learned many things that I will be able to incorporate into my current employment. I have many strategies that I will be able to relay to our instructors so that they may teach a more effective class. My new goals are basically to keep learning about technologies that help the online teaching community. My plans for reaching this goal are to continue on in the CEP courses. I am starting CEP812 next week and hoping to complete the certificate. My long term goal is to continue on to the Masters program so that I will be an excellent resource for our online instructors as well as our on-campus instructors.

  1. Before I began reading through your final post, I revisited the goal statement you shared with the class in your introduction “..this course in hopes of being an excellent resource of technology information for BMCC's instructors and students...” From taking a look at your coursework and thoughts about effective technology integration, effective teaching strategies, and UDL. it sounds like you have met this goal and then some. It has been a joy to have you in class. Thank you for sharing your insights ~ Susan
